We recognize that some of our young people may become involved in delinquent behavior and, as a result, enter the Juvenile Criminal Justice System. Depending on the nature of the offense, a youth may be ordered by the Court to serve time in a Youth Detention Center.
Detention is often a traumatic experience—not only for the young person, but for the entire family. The freedom that was once part of everyday life suddenly becomes restricted. From the moment a youth is handcuffed by law enforcement, their life may be permanently altered.
Eventually, the youth will return home to their family and community. However, the re-entry process can be just as challenging and traumatic as detention itself. Adjusting back into society requires emotional support, structure, and guidance—not only for the returning youth, but for family members as well.
C-PAC’s program, “This Side of the Wall,” was developed to support youth and families during the re-entry process. Too often, re-entry services focus primarily on returning adults. Our staff understands that if we truly want to reduce recidivism, we must intervene early—at the beginning stages of delinquent behavior. Providing individualized, one-on-one support to both youth and families is essential to achieving this goal.
“This Side of the Wall” is specifically designed to offer that focused support. Our trained and experienced staff are committed to guiding families through the transition process, helping them rebuild stability, restore relationships, and strengthen community connections.
C-PAC remains dedicated to raising awareness and addressing the challenges our communities face—working together to create safer, stronger futures for our youth.
